Gil Scott-Heron Tribute Mix...
There’s been an abundance of Gil Scott-Heron remixes and collabos as of late, more notably is his recent collabo project with Jamie xx. Here though is a tribute from a man who’s been promoting this genre of music for well over 20 years and is more familiar with Gil Scott-Heron’s lineage of work far beyond what many know him for, which is his famous quote, “The Revolution Will Not Be Televised.” The creator, Gilles Peterson has been the BBC Radio host of underground funk, soul and hip-hop for over two decades and is all too familiar with Gil Scott-Heron’s illustrious career. Amede Soundsmith. A new name to me but one to look out for! Vocalist and producer from London town bring us his very unique Electrorganic sound. Drawing on influences from Dilla, Little Dragon and Dam Funk to name a few sees Mr. Soundsmith tie in electro infused soul with his totally unique vocal style to produce a very distinctive sound.
