Raekwon: Unexpected Victory Trailer...

Roll on 1st January 2012, as that is the date Rae drops his new mixtape, Unexpected Victory. Below is a short trailer showing Rae in the studio banging one of the featured tracks from the mixtape and  from the sounds of it, it's nothing but heat! Enjoy!

Blackmale Beats: Merry Old Soul...

Fresh heat from south London duo, Blackmale Beats. Being it's that festive time of year the two beatsmiths have compliled a super nice treat for us in the form of Merry Old Soul, a 9-track instrumental beat tape. United: Downtime...

Sit back and enjoy this new video from United...

"Between mid January and the end of June 2011, following the release of our most recent full length DVD ‘This Is United’, we rented a small vacation apartment in Huntington Beach.
During this time, team riders from our pro, am and world teams flew out to visit, ride, relax, film some clips and soak up some of that Californian lifestyle."

Weareblind TV: Fellowship Mission...

Weareblind TV caught up with Yassin Bey aka Mos Def to discuss his new creative design venture, Fellowship Mission. It was only a matter of time before it would happen with the Brooklyn Native being one of a few sartorialists in the hip hop realm, with the likes of Kanye, Andre3000 and Frank Ocean. The video shows Yassin on a trip to Paris with friend, and owner of UNION, Chris Gibbs as they check out some local labels in what we can only imagine is for inspiration.

The first product to come from FM will be the Harun: No.7 fragrance, which Yassin worked on with good friend Chase Infinite.

“The oils are bottled in Brooklyn, NY the cultural epicenter of America’s greatest city and contain Imported Attar from the Kamauj Uttar Padesh region of India. Harun -no. 7- is 100% natural and is free of alcohol and chemicals. In the tradition of the original oils (attar) Harun -No.7- can be used a a fragrance for the body. or burned in the home.”

I look forward to seeing what comes of this new venture from the brother formerly known as Mos Def. Enjoy!

The Big Payback, is one of the earliest LPs released by Onra in collaboration with Byron. It was released in 2007 and still sounds fresh! Luckily for you it is available now as a freedownload, so snap it up and enjoy!

"The Big Payback is Byron The Aquarius on the synths and Fender Rhodes and Onra on the mpc. We met on Myspace but we never met in real life. We exchanged music files over the net, worked with some vocal artists, and finally produced an album in 2006, released in 2007."

Here's Maniac, the super violent short film directed by Shia LeBeouf and staring KiD CuDi. The film is based on the track 'Maniac', taken from CuDi's record Man on the Moon II: The Legend of Mr. Rager. Due to the violent nature this is definitely NSFW! Enjoy!

The Seventh Letter: Revoke, RIme & Roids...

Nice lil vid following MSK/The Seventh Letter trio of Revoke, Rime & Roids preparing gallery pieces for their hugely successful Perseverance show before setting off cross country to delivery the works to Known Gallery in LA. Enjoy!

Shepard Fairey...

"Wooster Collective has a great little video interview with E Pluribus Venomous wheat pasting rockstar, Shepard Fairey. OBEY, as Fairey is known when he’s in ‘run from squad car’ mode, spent all of last week painting a series of music-related murals in downtown Asbury Park, New Jersey, for the All Tomorrow’s Parties Music Festival sister event, I’ll Be Your Mirror. Two of the major murals are “The Rebel Waltz”, depicting Paul Simonon, bass guitarist for The Clash, and the 900 sq/f “Mount Rush-core”, which features large scale tricolor portraits of punk rock icons Joey Ramone, Johnny Rotten, Joe Strummer, Glenn Danzig, Ian MacKaye and Henry Rollins. The video, which also features gallerist Jonathan Levine, offers a glimpse at the decrepit majesty of the Asbury boardwalk, and plenty of footage of Shep’s process."

Recently Played: Gucci Mane - My Chain (Jon Wayne remix)...

I have been banging this for a good while now and still love it. Gucci Mane, a name I have never checked for, and when the whole ice cream tattoo thing happened he sealed it for me. But then Jon Wayne comes along and create this banging remix for Gucci's 'My Chain'! Sounding like the end credits from an old 8-bit computer game, it's sick! Check it for yourself below and download if you like it. Enjoy!

Miles Bonny...

Miles Bonny. A fairly new name to me and quite a few more I imagine but definitely one to sit and take notice of. The guys over at SpineTV caught up with Miles to get the low down on his background and influences leading to the release of Lumberjack Soul record.

"Miles Bonny released his wonderfully laid back Lumberjack Soul album, produced by the likes of DJ Day and previous SpineTV guest mix contributor Suff Daddy, earlier this year. As well as his own original material, Miles puts his hand to a number of covers; these include “Handclapping Song” by The Meters and “A Song From Kermit” by Kermit the Frog. An accomplished flugelhorn player, son of a trumpet player, and grandson of music therapist Helen Bonny, Miles grew up surrounded by music. His jazz, latin and soul influences can be heard through his expressive and tuneful songs."

Check the interview in full over at SpineTV. Enjoy!

PMOI Presents: Eric Lau...

Supreme London Launch Party Afterparty...

I was meant to post this a while ago but have been caught up. Anyway, as you know I were able to attend the  launch party for the new Supreme store in London.
The event was held at Madame JoJo's in London's Soho area, the venue has been a club since 1960 and still going strong with regular DJ nights and Cabaret shows.

On approach to the venue I was greeted by what I can only describe as a mob in and around the entrance with more people filling up the opposite side of the street. The event was a guestlist only affair but there seemed no real order as the doormen randomly let in small groups of people. An hour later and we have our names checked off the list and allowed to make our way downstairs in the club, situated in the basement. On entry to we were greeted by a mass of heads and heat, it was definitely a full house.
Doing the rounds we bumped into familiar faces and made our way to the dance floor where a DJ was entertaining us in anticipation for the arrival of the night's 'Special Guest Rap Star'.
The DJ kept us amused with his record selection, no real consistency, but it was clear everybody wanted to get to the main event. Within an hour and half of being inside the stage lights came up and a figure on stage, the DJ, the crowd were now getting hyped now eagerly awaiting the 'Big Rap Star'...
Enter Ghostface Killah!

Ghost took to the stage and instantly got the place hyped as he performed tunes from his back catelogue and from his current record, Apollo Kids. In between songs Ghost kept everybody laughing and joking with stories and reminding us of how hot it was in there, like we needed reminding.

Anyway, Ghost calls for two members of the crowd to come on stage to perform the verses of Meth and ODB from 'Protect Ya Neck', at first there are no takers but then an incentive of $100 is announced - step up Malcolm and Theo Parrish! The three of them then performed the track to a great reception from the crowd. My friend caught it on my phone for me but I'm having trouble uploading it to YouTube so in the meantime check the video below shot by another person in attendance.
Overall the night was sick! Good music, good vibes and good people! Shout out to Supreme - Welcome to London!

Emika Live in London...

Last night, after a hectic day of helping a friend move house, I managed to catch Emika performing at the launch party for her debut self-titled record, Emika, which is out now via Ninja Tune.
The event was held in the basement of the City Arts and Music Program building in shoredtich, London. Those of you familar with the venue will know how hot it gets in the basement and trust me once Emika started dropping those dark and moody baselines the heat in the venue rose rapidly! The crowd were hyped and most definitely up for a good show which we definitely got and enjoyed!
For those of you unfamiliar with Emika and into dubstep you should definitely check out her website

Check a couple of my favourites below. Enjoy!

Thundercat: Shenanigans Pt.1...

"Lots of people ask me about Thundercat, and how I come to know this guy. Thing is you’ve been hearing him for years and probably didn’t even know it. He’s one of the most talented bass players I’ve ever witnessed and I’ve been blessed to have worked with this guy on ‘Cosmogramma’ and ‘Pattern+Grid World’. Since then Thunder has been like a brother to me and feels like the other half of my brain in the studio. I thought it would be good to get you familiar with the man who’s contributed his unique sound to so many records I love. Here’s some things, a prelude to the LP. Some new, some you might know, some we may never release.
His debut album ‘The Golden Age of Apocalypse’ drops Aug. 30th, which I have had my hand in putting together." Flying Lotus.

Slow Motion Skateboard...
